ATHLETIC FUTBOL CLUB

"Driven by Pride, Passion, and Love for the Game"

Athletic FC is a premier youth soccer club proudly serving Playa Vista, Venice, Santa Monica, and local surrounding areas. We offer competitive club soccer teams, a futsal academy, and a children's skill development program for boys between the ages of 4 to 14. The foundation of our philosophy is built upon the US Soccer Curriculum and Coerver Coaching. Our goal is to develop insightful players who think creatively, have an advanced level of technical proficiency, and are passionate about playing the beautiful game.

Our Mission

Service, Advocacy, and Leadership

One of our primary objectives as a youth soccer club is to create a positive and enriching environment that supports the physical, psychological & emotional needs of our players. We place a strong emphasis on providing them with guidance and mentorship, while helping them to build character. Their health, wellness, and overall development as well rounded people are of the highest importance to us. We put every measure in place to serve our community by ensuring that families from all socio-economic levels are granted access to high quality soccer instruction and the structure it provides young boys by creating equal opportunities for them to participate in our program.

Our Philosophy

The Science Behind Our Approach

The foundation of our club's philosophy is built upon the US Soccer Curriculum and their Intiatives for Player Development. We use these essential components in combination with the Coerver Coaching Philosophy, the use of small-sided games, and Futsal to develop players who are insightful, creative, and are capable of competing at the highest level.  We take great pride in educating our players at every level in our program on how to play a possession based style of soccer that incorporates playing out from the back, fluid counter attacks, passing combinations, and speed of play.

Our Coaches

The Hands Behind the Work

Our coaching staff consists of a group of highly trained professionals who are passionate about soccer and educating young players. Each of our coaches are certified by the US Soccer Federation and continue their education and training on a continual basis. We specialize in providing a positive and structured learning environment that teaches the value of hard work, commitment, and sacrifice. Our goal is to craft intelligent and skillful players, who are disciplined, exhibit good sportsmanship, and play with a sincere level of passion for the game that we all love.

Our Futsal Academy

The Ultimate Skill Development Platform

Futsal is a 5v5 version of indoor soccer played with a small low-rebound ball on a hard ground surface similar to a basketball court. Players such as Neymar, Iniesta, and Ronaldinho all credit their creativity, quick thinking, and vision to the wonderful game of futsal. A study done by FIFA states that a player receives between 60-80 touches in a 40 minute futsal match vs 20-30 touches in a 60 minute soccer game. When players play futsal they become masters of the ball, more confident in 1v1 situations, and learn many tactics, including the principles of transition as the speed of play is lightening quick. Our futsal academy is an advanced program designed for boys ages 9 to 14 who have a solid foundation of technical skills, and is open to all players, including those of other clubs. Visit registration for additional information and help take your son's game to the next level.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are weekly trainings held?

A: Weekly trainings are held at Bluff Creek Field located at: 12702 Bluff Creek Drive, Playa Vista, CA 90094

Q: How can players tryout?

A: We are currently hosting tryouts for our club teams ages 2009-2006 for the 2017 Spring and Fall Seasons. Please contact us at info@athleticfc.org to schedule a tryout.

Q: Which Leagues do your teams participate in?

A: Our teams participate in the Coast Soccer League during the Fall Season and the Southbay Player Development League in the Spring.

Q: Which Seasons do your Club Teams participate in Tournaments?

A: Our teams participate in tournaments year around. The tournament schedule includes: Pre-Fall Season (2 to 3 grass tournaments), Winter Season (State Cup and 3 futsal tournaments), Spring Season (2 grass tournaments, 2 futsal tournaments, and 1 beach soccer tournament), and Summer (1 futsal tournament and 1 grass soccer tournament).

Q: How far away are Games and Tournaments?

A: Most games require 20-30 minutes of travel. Most tournaments require between 30-60 minutes of travel.

Q: What Format of Training do you use?

A: We implement the Principles of Seasonal Planning for Development designed by the United States Soccer Federation. Our players follow a repetitive 12-week program where the structure and content are based upon the specific needs of the players during the season. The season is organized in 12-week periods so that during this time the player will build his game understanding as well as develop the soccer-specific fitness necessary to perform in competition. Sessions for all age groups cover tactical, technical, physical and psychosocial objectives. Each session is organized into three parts: Warm-up, Main Part (which includes technical, physical and tactical exercises) and Scrimmage.

Q: Do you teach a specific Philosophy and Style of Play?

A: We educate our players on how to play a possesion based style of soccer that encompasses one touch passing combinations and a quick speed of play. Within this approach our players learn how to play from the back, while using communication, precision passing, and movement off the ball into open space.

Q: Do your club teams play any other format of soccer?

A: Our club teams also play Futsal, Street Soccer, and Beach Soccer during the winter, spring, and summer seasons. Futsal and Street Soccer are played in a 5v5 format on a smaller hard ground surface (similar to a basketball court). This format of soccer increases each players number of touches on the ball, which improves their technical skills. While playing futsal and street soccer, players are required to think quickly and utilize their technical skills while playing at a fast pace. As a result, players develop excellent ball control, strong 1v1 skills, and a greater sense of tactical awareness. Our teams also play Beach Soccer, which serves as an excellent source of physical fitness and conditioning. Playing in the sand also creates opportunities for players to practice volleys, including bicycle and scissor kicks.

Q: How can I find out more information about Athletic FC if I have additional questions?

A: To obtain further information about Athletic FC and the programs that we offer, please email us at info@athleticfc.org.
